A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Friday for a new local business. Forget Me Not is now open for business.

After years of creating refurbished designs, owner Leisa Dennis’ dream to open her own business has finally come true.

" I’ve always wanted that. I wasn’t really sure if it would ever happen but after I raised my children I figured i could do anything, so I decided I am going to go for it," said Dennis.

Dennis says so far she has received positive responses from the community and says that she offers a variety of repurposed items.

"What our main purpose or goal is to take old furniture that would otherwise get discarded and give it new life and a new home. I just take it and refurbish it, re-paint it, I do all different kids of things with it," said Dennis.

During the event family and friends shopped and enjoyed refreshments. Members of city council and the chamber of commerce also came out to celebrate another opening of a business in downtown Zanesville. Since 2000 more than $33 million of private and public investments have been made in Zanesville.
