A local church went green on Saturday in hopes of saving our environment one drop off at a time.

Members of Coburn United Methodist Church met this morning to host their sixth annual Go Green Recycle Event. Visitors were able to drive through the church parking lot on Maple Avenue. and drop off their unwanted items.

" A lot of computers have been coming in and there is small appliances, card board and a little bit of everything, " said Dennis Baker, Lead Pastor.

Baker says that instead of going into landfills these items can be properly disposed of or given a new life.

" Goodwill will take the items to their facility, sort it out and what they can recycle they will do so. If they can generate funds from the items they will be used to help their ministry and our community and then I suppose they will put some items in their store," said Baker.

Coburn United Methodist Church would like to thank the employees and volunteers at Goodwill, Wendy’s and Barnes Advertising for their support and partnership. Goodwill had three trucks at the event this year.
