A New Concord 7th Grade student exits the Scripps National Spelling Bee sooner then he would have liked.
12-year-old Harry Harman incorrectly spelled the word ‘demersal’ which means bottom-dwelling during Thursday mornings semi-finals.
Prior to Thursday’s semi-finals he correctly spelled ‘apartheid’ and ‘veloute’ in the first and second rounds.
When he’s not spelling Harman spends his time composing songs and plays both the saxophone and the piano. He can also be found participating in both musical theater and the Boy Scouts of America.
Thank you Harry for representing our area and working so hard at this year’s spelling bee.
