One hundred and fifty bales of hay caught fire Friday morning causing officials to shut down a local road for a couple of hours.

A pick up truck was traveling down Eastpointe Rd. in Adamsville when the driver realized his attached trailer packed with hay was on fire . Washington Township fire fighters responded to the scene and say they are unsure of the cause.

"It could be anything from tires to brakes or loading it wet. We do not know yet we haven’t started the investigation, " said Assistant Fire Chief, Adam Siddle.

The fire took approximately 30 minutes to contain. Falls Township Fire Department and Community Ambulance both assisted on the scene. ODOT was also called to help clean up the roadway so it could re-open.
