The Lorena Sternwheeler will begin her tour of the Muskingum river in just 18 days, and some are wondering if the river conditions will be favorable.
The rainy season we’ve seen so far has left the river swollen, however, Kelly Ashby of the Muskingum Zanesville chamber of commerce is confident that for the first trip on June 7th, the Lorena will have suitable river conditions.
"In river conditions like right now the Lorena would not be running, but we have several weeks until it really kicks off for the season. Conditions can change overnight," said Kelly Ashby V.P. of the Muskingum Chamber of Commerce.
Several of the cruises this year include themes, specials, and coupons for other things to see and do in Muskingum county. On Saturday June 7th, each rider will receive a 30% off coupon from Ohio Pottery Norwich to be used on 1st quality Ohio Stoneware kitchenware and a free 1 pint crock.
"The Lorena has been here for over 60 years," said Ashby, "so we have been blessed to have it in our community. It is something that is unique. Not every community that’s on a water front has a sternwheeler."
The Lorena is available for lunch, dinner, and twilight cruises, as well as birthday parties and anniversaries. You can find more information and book your tour by calling 800-743-2303.
