The National Road can expect to see a little extra traffic in the coming days as shoppers try to hunt for a good bargain.

The 11th annual National Road Yard Sale kicks off Wednesday and runs through the weekend.  Here in Zanesville, over 20 businesses will also be participating this Saturday.

"There are a lot of people that will participate, a lot of businesses that are open having specials and having sales, so something for everyone," said Kelly Ashby, the Vice President of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce.  "The National Road Zane Grey Museum is a great stop as well. There will be vendors there, and it’s also a great time to explore the National Road Zane Grey Museum and learn about the history of the National Road, itself."

The event covers over 824 miles and stretches from Baltimore all the way to St. Louis.  Ashby said there are several who travel the entire distance on the historic road and make a point to stop right here in Zanesville.

"People look forward to this every year," Ashby said.  "We get emails and calls and folks wondering when it’s taking place. So it does, it draws people from all over, and some folks travel all five states and enjoy the yard sale that’s happening. It’s great for the area, and it’s a fun way to explore the National Road."
