Local women got all dressed up for a special ladies night out. Saturday night was the annual Red Cross Power of the Purse Fundraiser.
This the 9th annual year for the event and more than 400 women showed up to bid on more than 500 new and gently used purses. Some purses were sold in a silent auction while others were displayed in a public sale.
" We have a lot of Coach purses, Michael Kors, there is a little bit of something for everyone," said Marlene Henderson, Red Cross Director.
Last year the fundraiser raised more than $80,000 and organizers hope to do so again this year. The proceeds from the event will go towards support for the Red Cross’ mission to help people in need.
" This all goes towards helping families in Muskingum, Perry, Morgan, Guernsey and Noble counties when they need assistance. whether it’s during a flood or fire. This is what the money is here for, to help our organization, " said Henderson.
During the event, women also had dinner with a wine selection courtesy of Bill Byrd. Henderson would like to thank the community for their continued support.
