Animal Shelter to Host Family Fun Day

The Animal Shelter in Muskingum County wants you to come out to their second annual Family Fun Day.

The shelter’s Executive Director Jody Murray said they had a great turnout last year, and with the nice weather expected, this year’s fun day should be even more fun.

"It’s just what it says," Murray said.  "It’s a day to bring out your kids and grandparents. It’s kind of an open house and gives us a chance to kind of show off the shelter a little bit."

The event will be hosted at the animal shelter from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday. Murray said there will be plenty of activities going on for everyone to enjoy.

"We’re going to have events for kids, a scavenger hunt, crafts, and things like that. And the big thing we’re having tomorrow (Saturday), and we’ve talked about doing this at the shelter for a long time, something to honor the veterans that we have. So tomorrow, any active or retired military person that comes in, all the adoptions for them are going to be half price."

And while you’re out at Family Fun Day, Murray encourages you to stop and say hello to the pet of the week, a two-year-old cat named Skitsy.
