Muskingum County Auditor Debra Nye met with the county commissioners Monday afternoon.

Nye updated the commissioners on various items from the auditor’s office including a cost savings measure with the reduction of phone lines.

"When people call in, now they have an automated teller that you would press one to go to real estate and press two to go to accounting," Nye said.  "It makes it nice because we’re not tied up on the phones all the time. The person that’s calling in will be able to have direct access to wherever they need to go."

The new system decreased the number of lines from eleven to eight and was implemented on Friday.  Nye also discussed an update to the computer system.

"We have purchased 12 computers for our real estate, and actually, the general fund picked up the tab for everything," Nye said.  "So our real estate fund is going to reimburse the general fund a little over $12,200."

Nye said the upgrade was necessary because the old computer system was no longer going to be compatible with Google.
