The Muskingum County Commissioners met with members of the Muskingum County Engineer’s Office for a bid opening concerning the purchase of concrete materials.
The Muskingum County Engineer’s Office is currently working on a variety of concrete culvert projects and solicited bids from four area companies for the materials.
" We are working on structures on Boggs Road were working on Clay Pike and there will be some other areas as well, " said Matt Russell, Administrative Deputy.
Out of the four companies, there was only one bid submitted by Contech Engineering Solutions for three sided culverts. The Engineer’s Office is still in need of more materials including round, elliptical and box culverts.
" We did anticipate more bidder and unfortunately we only received one bid so we’ll have to take a look at these and see why there was only one bid, " said Russell.
The costs of the materials can range in price from $600 to $3,200 a foot depending on the size of the culverts. Russell says that his next step is to contact vendors for materials and work internally to complete the projects.
