The Falls Township Fire Department is a winner winner thanks to chicken dinners.
The department hosted their 49th annual Father’s Day Chicken Dinner fundraiser Sunday. Dinners including half a chicken, applesauce, coleslaw, chips, drink, and roll were available at all three Falls Township Departments. It’s an event that fireman Jacob Waltemire says has been well received by the community.
"They’ve really enjoyed it and said the chicken’s been good. They enjoy coming out here every year. We’ve had a really good show of support from the community."
Over 1700 dinners were sold this year helping the department raise around $4,000. While they aren’t sure how they’ll spend that money just yet, Waltemire says the funds will be put to good use.
"We’ll probably use it on an item that we need for the department. Usually, every year we earmark it for something that we need and maybe can’t fit into our regular budget."
In addition to the food, the department also pulled out the firetrucks so that kids could learn about them and see them up close.
