Seven former Harrison Township Emergency Medical Service Board members appeared in court for arraignments Wednesday.
In front of Judge Kelly Cottrill, Brian Hatfield, Richard Bennett, Heather Price, Robert Hatfield, Beverly Hatfield, Mary Randles and Terry Randles all plead not guilty to charges that include engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, money laundering and theft, among others.
Price, Bennett and Robert and Beverly Hatfield have all posted $100,000 bonds. At the arraignments Judge Cotrill reduced Mary and Terry Randles bond to $25,000. Brian Hatfield’s bond was set at $100,000.
The Attorney General’s Office believes these individuals misspent nearly $500,000 from 2008-2012 that should have been used on emergency services. In their case the Attorney General’s office states that former Chief of Harrison Township EMS Brian Hatfield sold the ambulances, EMS building and the building’s contents and using the money not related to the non profit.
The other individuals all served on the board between 2008-2012. The arrests came after a four year investigation by the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
