Dave Anderson punched home a pair of touchdowns, Jorge Meeker returned a fumble for a score and the Zanesville Jets disassembled the Ohio Gladiators, 30-14, to improve to 3-1.
The Gladiators took a 6-0 lead in the 2nd quarter only to see the home team pile on 30 unanswered points.
Steven Johnson forced intentional grounding in the end zone to give Zanesville two points by way of a safety. On the ensuing Jets possession, quarterback Tyler Ransom connected with receiver Nikko Simpson for a 41-yard gain on 4th down. Anderson dived into the painted grass on the next play, and the Jets took a 9-6 lead into the half.
Zanesville pulled away in the 3rd quarter, beginning with a 19-yard touchdown run compliments of Anderson to extend the lead to nine. Ohio got the ball back in time for a last-ditch effort to keep the game close, but Dwayne Merrick and Jevonne Reese forced a fumble and Meeker returned it all the way to the house.
The Jets put the finishing touches on a solid offensive night with a two-yard Anthony Ford touchdown run to the left corner of the end zone to make the score 30-6.
The Mahoning Valley Vipers will invade the Maysville Athletic Complex next Saturday as the Jets will go for back-to-back wins for the second time this season.
