The first two drives of the game looked anything but like an All Star game but after Travis Baldwin ripped off a 68 yard run for the game’s first score in what proved to be the opening of the flood gates. For the second consecutive year the Licking County squad won against Muskingum Valley 36-20.
Muskingum Valley never lead in the game and were never tied again. Jerrod Lyon added a 24 yard field goal at the beginning of the second quarter to make it 9-0. That is when Thomas Wibbeler and Muskingum Valley struck. The Ohio Dominican signee completed a four yard pass to JT McFarland to cut the lead to 9-6, and that is when the wheels feel off. Licking County scored the 20 points to take a commanding lead which they never relinquished.
Licking County racked up 177 yards on the ground and another 173 through the air. Baldwin lead the ground attack with 99 yards and two touchdowns. Garrett Garber completed 5-10 for 102 yards and a touchdown for Licking County.
Wibbeler was named the Muskingum Valley MVP completing 22-37 for 291 yards three touchdowns and interception. He did well finding his Blue Devil teammates. He connected with Dar Stanford eight times for 100 yards and with McFarland five times for 90 yards and two touchdowns.
Muskingum Valley still leads the overall series 17-16 but has dropped the last two games.
