Local Fire Departments Receive Federal Grant

New federal resources have been awarded to two fire departments in Muskingum County…

U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio announced that Falls Township Volunteer Fire Department and Zanesville Fire Department have been awarded resources for Operations and Safety by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grants program.

Senator Brown said firefighters put their lives on the line each day to keep our communities safe, and that hese new federal resources will "help ensure that Muskingum County’s skilled responders have the updated resources they need to safely do their jobs.”

Falls Township Volunteer Fire Department was awarded $405,732 and the Zanesville Fire Department was awarded $216,515 in funding as part of the round 10 competitive Fiscal Year 2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program announcements.

The program helps firefighters and other first responders improve their ability to protect the public and themselves. Projects funded in the Operations and Safety category include training, facility upgrades and modifications, and supplies such as protective equipment.
