Miss Muskingum Valley Outstanding Teen is doing her part to improve the local community.
Madeline Foreman is just thirteen years old, but already has decided that helping disabled animals is a cause she stands by. So much so that she chose it as her pageant platform.
"It really started because I have my own handicapped animal and he is perfectly fine of course but he was so called unadoptable for awhile and I didn’t believe that was a good thing because we don’t label people like that."
To raise money for her cause, foreman assisted in fundraising opportunities at Zanesville Middle School to purchase materials to make special toys for cats. She then donated 52 of her one-of-a-kind creations to the Animal Shelter Society of Muskingum County.
"The cat cozies are stuffed socks from filling that we fill pillows with of course and we put cat nip in them for the cats and we filled the bottom up with the yarn."
Along with helping her community, Foreman is preparing for the Miss Ohio Outstanding Teen Pageant in Mansfield where she hopes to win the title and compete in the national competition.
