In less than a month authorities have investigated two fatal motorcycle accidents in Muskingum County and a local expert is giving some life saving tips at a crucial time.
According to the Director of Trauma at Genesis Hospital , David Davis motorcycle accidents occur due to a variety of reasons including drinking, awareness and experience.
" Younger riders are more at risk," said Davis. The largest study of motorcycles in the Hope Report notes that that younger riders with less than five months on the particular motorcycle they are riding are significantly over represented in this study. "
Davis says there are ways that motorcyclists can lessen the chances of being seriously injured in a crash.
" The single thing you can do is wear high visibility clothes, 50 percent of motorcycle accidents involve alcohol and that certainly increases your risk and there is a correlation between helmet usage, particularly full faced helmets and injuries," said Davis.
