**Update** Fatal Shooting in Frazeysburg

An 11-year -old boy has passed away following a tragic incident involving a gun.

According to Muskingum County Sheriff’s Department Lieutenant, Mike Lecocq at approximately 3:30 p.m. their office received a 9-1-1 call that male juvenile had been shot in the chest by another male juvenile at 43 First St. in the village of Frazeysburg.

"Our detectives are here working this and the Muskingum County Coroner has just arrived as well we should be in a better state sometime tomorrow, " said Lt. Lecocq.

The sheriff’s office has not confirmed the cause of the shooting, but neighbors say that they are close with both young men and their families. They believe the shooting to be accidental.

"He’s a good boy, he rode on his bicycle and he’s a good kid and so is his sister . I known them for a while and it’s really sad. I couldn’t imagine something happening to my daughter, " said Kelly Mcdonald, Neighbor.

The sheriff’s office has yet to release names, but the family has been notified. Detectives are currently investigating the situation. According to Sheriff Matt Lutz the victim just celebrated a birthday earlier this month.
