Fleas may be a bad thing for pets, but flea markets, on the other hand, can be very beneficial.
The Animal Shelter in Muskingum County will be hosting a flea market and yard sale at the Mass Bingo Hall this Saturday as a way to raise money for the shelter. While there are already several vendors registered, Jody Murray, executive director of the shelter, said they still have plenty of room for more.
"We still have some space, so if anyone’s interested in setting up, it can be even a business–if you’ve got a product you want to sell, yard sales, flea marketers, things like that, we still have plenty of space," Murray said. "It will be indoors. We provide the tables. We’ll have a concession stand going, so kind of one stop shopping that day."
While fundraisers like this help the shelter with a variety of expenses, this one in particular is going to sponsor Snowball–a dog brought into the shelter who is going to need surgery on both of his hips.
"We’d also like to ask the community if they would like to support the surgery for this dog–again, we’re looking at two major surgeries, some rehab for the dog," Murray said. "But it’s a great little dog, seven months old. It’s going to make someone a really good family dog. So if anyone wants to make a donation for Snowball, they can do that here at the shelter. Send a check in and just designate that it’s for the surgery, and we’ll make sure that it gets applied toward him."
The flea market and yard sale will run from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. this Saturday. Parking is available both on the street and in the back of the Mass Bingo Hall.
