Beating the Summer Heat

The heat is in full force as we enter the month of July but it’s no match for a refreshing day by the pool.

The YMCA is a great place to cool down on the hot summer days. Head lifeguard, Blaire Border, says that the YMCA has many visitors throughout the summer months.

"We get a lot of people from latchkey and a lot of people from camp and we have had quite a few public swimmers."

There are many ways to beat the heat this summer. Kathy Anderson, Paraprofessional for the 21st Century Program Summer School shared how they provide relief to the kids from the sweltering heat.

"We had a yard sale at the middle school for a fundraiser for the Animal Shelter and we have it under trees where it was nice and shady and we had yard games for them to play and water, ice cold water we kept for them, so we’re making sure they stay cool."

Day passes to the Muskingum County YMCA cost only $5 and you can purchase a season pass for $165. The YMCA pool is open Monday through Saturday, 12PM until 7PM and on Sundays from 1PM to 6PM. The hours will remain the same throughout the July Fourth weekend.
