Today marks the biggest day on the Urban Meyer recruiting trail for the class of 2015. They’re calling it 10-star Wednesday. Ohio State has received verbal commitments from two five-star recruits: outside linebacker Justin Hilliard and defensive end Jashon Cornell.
Hilliard is ranked as the number one linebacker in the class of 2015 and 13th overall by ESPN. His list of offers from top-tier schools reads like a grocery list. Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Notre Dame, USC and South Carolina all wanted him, but Hilliard chose to stay close to home. He stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 230 pounds, and is known for excellent closing speed and exception tackling.
It’s been hypothesized that Hilliard and defensive end Jashon Cornell were going to be a package deal. Today, that hypothesis was confirmed. the 5th-best defensive end and 16th-best overall prospect per ESPN pledged his allegiance to the Scarlet and Gray shortly after Hilliard. Unlike his buddy, Cornell’s commitment comes as more of a surprise, as Michigan State appeared to be his school of choice for quite some time. He stands at 6-foot-3, 265 pounds and ran a sub-4.7 40 in Chicago.
Urban Meyer’s "Elite 15" class is now up to 12 recruits.
