Grant to Create 5 jobs in Community

by Katie Donovan on July 15, 2014

Scholarship Central and the Muskingum County Community Foundation received a grant that will allow them to hire 5 people to become Americorps Ohio College Guides.

The job will begin August 4th and continue through the following 11 months.

The applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree. The guide will work with High School students as they prepare for college. They will be required to live locally and serve in the area High Schools. Director of College Access Programs at Scholarship Central Heather Sands said they are actively looking for applicants.

"So our goal is to find 5 dynamic individuals that may want to come back to the community and work with students in the High School level to help then prepare for life beyond High School," Sands said.

Sands said that they aim to help recent college graduates move forward after completing their 4 year degree. This job could be the first step into the professional world.

"We want students to come back that may have graduated recently from college and may be looking for positions or that entry level position or step into something, maybe they’re not sure of the next career path since they graduated from college and they’d like to do a little bit of searching to see what their next step would be, " Sands said.

Scholarship Central and the Community Foundation are taking applications and if you are interested in finding more information about position or applying you can visit MCCF.org.
