The Kellogg Company typically makes food, but they will soon be hosting an event to help serve food to those less fortunate.

The Night Moves Kellogg 5K Run and Walk will take place at the Kellogg plant on Fairview Road in Zanesville later next month.  They typically average around 300 runners and walkers each year, and they hope to have close to 500 this year.  All the proceeds from the event will go to benefit Christ’s Table.

"We’re really excited that the employees of Kellogg once again are coming forth to do the seventh annual Kellogg Fun Run and Walk," said Keely Warden, Executive Director of Christ’s Table. "It’s going to be on August 23rd, and we want to get everybody involved.  It’s a night run this year, so there’s going to be lots of neon colors and luminaries, and just being out for a good family fun night."

The first 300 participants to register will receive a free t-shirt.  There will also be a barbecue cookout following the race.  Whether you’ve got a competitive spirit or just want to come take a leisurely stroll with the family, Warden said the event offers something for everyone.

"It’s going to be very family oriented this year," Warden said. "There’s going to be bounce houses and lots of things for the kids to do.  For the first year, we’re going to have the 50 yard dash for the children.  And we want to let everybody know, it’s a fun race, and it’s also very economical.  It’s $10 for each runner, and if you’re a serious runner, it is a timed race.  You will be timed.  But if it’s just a family and you want to come out and have a good time, your children will be free."

You will be able to register on the day of the race beginning at 6:00 p.m. but you are encouraged to register in advance by visiting
