Kiss the Cow Fundrasier

One local celebrity puckered up to a lovely milk maid Saturday to raise money for the Zanesville Civic League Community Center.

The community day was hosted by the Civic League, and the community came together for fun, food, music and the Kiss the Cow fundraiser. County Commissioner Jim Porter, Sheriff Matt Lutz, Mayor Jeff Tilton and Zanesville City Schools faculty T.J. Anderson were chosen to face off to raise money. Spectators chose which jar to put money in, and the person who raised the most money kissed the cow. Program Director Kim Matthews said she got the idea from the world wide web.

"The Kiss the Cow fundraiser came from an internet search, surprisingly. I was looking for new fundraiser, something exciting for everybody," said Matthews. "Something that would earn some money to help us get new gym equipment within the next year, and it’s something we badly need. We realize it’s expensive, and I think this fundraiser’s going to help us out a lot with that."

The day included a dunk tank, hula hoop games, a bounce house, and a three-on-three basketball tournament. Director of the Civic League Howard Bailey said having fun is the most important thing.

"You look at the news today, there’s a lot of negativity and a lot of negative things going on, and it’s just a time for people to relax, have fun," said Bailey.

T.J. Anderson raised the most money, forcing him to pucker up to the slobbering beauty at the end of the fundrasier. He was just happy to announce that the cow kissed back. All the money earned will go toward the new gym equipment including a new gym floor for the Civic League that will be safer for the community children to use.
