If you have old televisions or computers just sitting around, the Southeast Ohio Solid Waste Management District wants to help you dispose of them safely.
They are holding an electronics recycling event which runs Monday through Wednesday. It is available free of charge to anyone from the area.
"We have electronics and TV collection for three days this week, and it’s open to businesses, individuals, industries, whoever needs to bring their material in," said Robert Reiter, District Coordinator. "As you can see behind me, we package all the stuff down and ship to a secure facility."
Appliances such as refrigerators, microwaves and freezers will not be accepted. You are also limited to just two televisions per person. Items that are accepted include computers, monitors, printers, copiers, and phone systems. Reiter said hard drives are shredded so there is no need to worry about information being stolen.
"We try to take a lot of pains with making sure people’s information stays secure and it’s gone when it gets to where it goes to. That’s one of the things that we do pride ourselves on."
Electronics will be accepted from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. both Tuesday and Wednesday at the Muskingum County Recycling Center located at 2215 Adamsville Road.
