The annual Rock the Walk 3K was held Saturday, July 12, at Sulsburger Stadium at Zanesville High School.
Rock the Walk is an event that is hosted by Brain Song, an organization that supports those who have suffered from a traumatic brain injury . Founder, Micah Jones, said that Saturday’s event was something special.
"This event is a very special day because we get to reach as many people in the public as we can," said Jones. "We get to educate them on brains and the survivors can meet other survivors that they don’t already know and create friendships and it’s just a wonderful thing to celebrate. "
The event brought out survivors and community members to learn more about brain injuries. It also gave people the chance to walk through an inflatable brain and to hear stories from survivors. Supporter, renee hammers said it was a moving experience.
"And I’d just like to say thank you God, for everything you do," said Hammers. "Thank you for this walk and thank you for the money that was raised for people with traumatic brian injuries. "
Organizers say the 3K was a success. If you are interested in joining the event next year you can find more information at www.brainsong.org
