The Lynch family of Duncan Falls is hosting their 3rd annual benefit to raise money for their daughter, Callista Lynch who suffers from Spina Bifida.

Spina Bifida is a condition that causes nerves to form outside of the back. This leads to nerve damage. The money will go toward making their home handicap accessible. Callista’s mother Kim says she will use a power wheelchair to get around on her own. This requires a major renovation of the Lynch’s home that is estimated at approximately $51,000 and they are asking the community for help to make it possible.

"We recently got her approval letter for a power wheelchair so this will be the first time she will be mobile on her own, independently, so we just want to make our home, her home, " said Lynch.

The benefit will be held July 27th at Prophet’s Park located off of Route 55 from 11 until 2 p.m. It will feature over 100 chinese auction items ranging from $5.00 to 40.00 as well as 30 silent auction items up for bid. There will be dinners and smaller food items like hot dogs and sloppy joes to buy. Lynch said they hope to raise enough to not only start the renovations but to continue the benefit annually for all those affect by Spina Bifida.

"And even after she stops needing things, I hope that we can still keep our benefit going so that we can donate more and more to different organizations,"said Lynch.

Callista lynch will be 2 1/2 soon and the family is hoping to finish the project between this year and the next benefit. If you would like to donate money to Callista’s journey you can stop at Century National Bank or simply attend the Callista’s Journey benefit.
