What combines rockets, archery, and obstacle courses? It’s the Scouts.

From 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. Saturday afternoon, current and potential Boy and Girl Scouts attended a Scout About at dillon state park.

"The purpose of the event is to, build up interest in girl scouting and boy scouting and let people know that were around that were very active in the community and its a lot of fun," said Lindsay Collett of the Girl Scouts.

Jeff Pickett of the Boy Scouts explained that the scouts give kids opportunities they may not normally come across such as community service, supplemental education and new life experiences.

"We’ve got a lot of kids that are out here having fun and finding out more about different things that they can do outdoors in a fun and safe environment."

The event today shows off many of the positives of scouting, but Girl Scout Eliana Paul says it best.

"Well, i like it because you get to do a lot of fun things!"
