With the harvest season upon us, fresh produce donations at Christ’s Table are always appreciated.
Each day the food kitchen has hundreds of individuals come through for a hot, home cooked meal. Kitchen Manager at Christ’s Table, Tim Collins, says the donations that are brought in are always very important is providing the means to create the food distributed each day.
"On a day to day basis, I will make, or I will have my staff make probably enough salad to feed 400 people. Tossed salad or fresh vegetable salad every day….Whatever I get I try and rotate back out as quick as i can because freshness is important."
Most of the donations they are receiving are produce items which are picked that morning or the day prior. Zucchini, cabbage, corn, tomatoes and cucumber are among the veggies that have been dropped off lately. Collins says the food recieved has been a blessing.
"It’s a blessing because I don’t have to buy it, I can put my money toward purchasing some other food item."
If you would like to help contribute to the donations at Christ’s Table, you can simply come to the side door and drop your items off.
