It was a gorgeous afternoon for some fishing and family fun.
And that is exactly what the "Get Out and Get Active Together" activity day was all about. The free event put on by the Army corp of Engineers and the Dillon Falls Store was hosted at the Dillon Dam. Kids of all ages fished with cane poles, played cornhole, tossed frisbee and even let off balloons. While being active is important, Water Safety Ranger Justin Jarrett says that fun was the whole point of the event.
"It’s to get out and enjoy family event, get out in the community, just enjoy nature, have fun and relax and not be all uptight. "
Cane pole fishing lasted from 10:00AM to 12:00PM today. The other activities went until around 2:00PM, signaling the end of the event with a balloon release which was turned into a contest.
"once that balloons found, it’ll say on the card ‘please help me win’ by calling a number, they will tell them where they found the balloon. The furthest balloon away gets a 10 dollar gift certificate from party land supply, " said Dillon Falls Store owner Kathy Mccann
So, if you happen to stumble across a balloon in your backyard be sure to call the number on the card and help one lucky kid win the prize!
