Emma Embrey’s Grand Champion Market Hog "Bad" wasn’t being so bad today.
The hog broke records at the Muskingum County Fair’s Hog Sale Friday afternoon selling for $90 a pound. 13-year-old Emma Embrey is a member of the Banner Chasers 4-H Club and she told us what is needed to raise a Grand Champion Pig.
"You need to have a good shelter, feed, water and just like make sure your pig is all right."
Emma said that the close to $22,000 that she receives from the sale of her pig will go towards her college education fund. RealTree Outdoor Energy, CAMM Construction, John Hinderer Honda and Zemba Brothers inc. came together to buy the Grand Champion Hog. Matt Fulks a representative for RealTree told us why it is important for them to be a part of the hog sale.
"We like to support programs that the kids are doing. RealTree kind of embraces the outdoor life style and 4-H is a great way to express that for them "
The 255 pound hog is only 6 months old and was the first of more than 400 hogs to be auctioned off at the hog sale today.
