Hope to the Rescue had its first major fundraising event from 11:00a.m. till 4:00p.m. Saturday afternoon at Putnam Hill Park.

The new non-profit organization is determined to help any person or family affected by illness or disabilities.

"To help anybody, there are lots of people who have lots of problems," said Foundation Director Cherly Coles, "and its very expensive and costly for families. We want to give back to the community."

Coles says that she hopes to be able to give tangible services, items and assistance to families that need it. Volunteer, Jane Malloy told us she believes in Cheryl and her cause and also highlighted some of the activities that went on at today’s event.

"She’s got hot dogs, and some great music you can hear in the background, some free face painting, a balloon person, just to come out with your family."

A local photographer volunteered his time to take free family portraits and puppies were donated to be given to families.
