House of Grace Church and the Newton Township Fire Department are teaming up this weekend.

Fire and Water will be held Saturday from 11AM to 3PM. The event is open to children and their families in the community. You’ll be registered upon arrival, and will be able to join in a variety of educational events such as a flame house, smoke house and an emergency reenactment. Pastor Joe Dunlap says they will have a lot of other fun activities to take part in as well.

"On the fun side, we’re going to have a 75 foot water slide, slip n slide, and a dunking machine, cotton candy, hot dogs, its totally free for the family, just for our community."

The event is free of charge and will be held at House of Grace Church. You are asked to simply bring your towel. Dunlap says the purpose of the gathering is to demonstrate an outreach to the community.

"Just reaching out, and letting the children have a great time. Educating them and also having fun before school starts and just reaching out to the community and let them know that we’re there to help in any way we can."
