The Zanesville Jets only needed one touchdown to secure the Ohio Football League North Conference Championship on Saturday night, defeating the visiting Cleveland Patriots, 6-0, at John D. Sulsberger Memorial Stadium.
Tydell Butcher punched in a 22-yard touchdown late in the 1st quarter for the lone score of the night. The Jets entered the red zone on the drive thanks to a long pass from Tyler Ransom to Nikko Simpson. Simpson got the job done on both sides of the ball, picking off a Tevin Smith pass in the 4th quarter to thwart a Patriots drive.
Cleveland made it down to the Jets 6-yard-line in the 4th, only to be driven back to the 18 after a 12-yard sack courtesy of Steven Johnson. The Pats then missed a 35-yard field goal.
The Jets will take on the Southern Ohio Buckeyes in the championship game. The date and time have yet to be announced.
