A side effect of the Affordable Care Act a $200 billion cut to Medicare Advantage.

Medicare Advantage is a type of Medicare health plan offered by a private company that contracts with Medicare to provide consumers with all Part A and Part B benefits.

"We don’t get to say very often that a federal program is working well," said 6th District Congressman Bill Johnson. "Medicare Advantage is one of those programs that is actually working well and has in excess of 90 percent approval rating by the beneficiaries of that program."

To help alleviate the influence those cuts have Congressman Johnson is seeking passage of the Seniors’ Fairness Act.

"I want to take a subsidy out of the Healthcare Law eliminate it and put that money toward replacing the money that’s been cut from Medicare Advantage so our seniors don’t see decrease benefits and decrease coverage," said Congressman Johnson.

The cut to Medicare Advantage affects 30,000 seniors in the 6th District.
