Johnson Talks Energy during Visit

A summer recess for congress doesn’t mean a break from work for Congressman Bill Johnson.

The 6th District Representative is busy visiting constituents in eastern and southeastern Ohio. The Congressman said through his meetings he’s listening to the needs of those living and walking in the district every day.

He said concerns about jobs and the economy continue to surface.

One bill recently passed would eliminate the red tape affecting cross border pipeline projects. He said another would speed up permits for those companies wanting to export natural gas.

"Our President needs to understand that strong domestic energy policy here putting America in play from a liquid natural gas perspective that’s going to change the dialog with Vladimir Putin and the Russians," explained Congressman Johnson. "They’re controlling the worlds liquid natural gas export market and they’re holding European friends and allies and others that are maybe not so much our friends hostage. We can help solve that problem and bring the Russians to the table in a different kind of way."

Johnson believes this bill would also create more jobs for our area with the Utica and Marcellus Shale. He said he’s hoping that the Senate will move forward on this bill and others sitting idle.

"We’ve got a Senate that’s totally dysfunctional," added Johnson. "The 350 plus bills that are sitting there today that’s just this session of congress the 113th session. That doesn’t account for the ones that are sitting there from the 112th that they never touched either."
