The Village of Dresden has lost a prominent and well loved member of the community.

Former 5 term Mayor, Robert Lane passed away early Monday morning. Not only did Lane serve as Mayor, but he also worked at AEP, served as a Councilman and a volunteer fireman. Current Dresden Mayor, David Mathew says he was a man to admire.

"He was someone to look up to. The way he treated people. I mean he was fair, and was positive about those things he did. He was a good mentor for me for this job."

Not only was he a role model to the community, but he was a big supporter of it as well. Lane loved the Tri-Valley schools and sports system. Mathew says he feels people will simply miss his presence in the community most and that his years of service will always be appreciated.

"On behalf of the village of Dresden, I’d like to thank him for his years of service and what he did to make this a better place to live."

Lane is survived by his wife of 61 years,  children and grandchildren. He was 80 years old.
