Muskingum County Court officially has an acting judge….He is Scott Rankin..

With his wife standing next to him Judge Rankin was sworn in by the man he’s replacing, Judge Eric Martin. After practicing law for the past 15 years inside the Muskingum County Court Rankin can now take his seat behind the bench.

"It’s a very proud day for me and my family. I wanted to show the people of Muskingum County that through hardwork and dedication that I am the best person to serve for this judgeship, Judge Rankin said.

Rankin made a short address to the small crowd that gathered inside the common pleas court to watch the ceremony. In his statement he expressed how honored he is to be appointed to this judgeship.

"To be an acting judge in my hometown, to see my family and how proud they are, to me it truly means the world," Judge Rankin said.

Rankin began filling in for Judge Martin on Monday of this week after Governor John Kasich appointed Martin to serve as Probate and Juvenile Judge earlier this month.
