The Animal Shelter Society is hosting its first ever Paws and Claws Summer Jam Saturday at Zanes Landing Park.

The event will feature the band Double Cut and a cornhole tournament will begin at 10:00 a.m. The executive director of the animal shelter, Jody Murray said they have had a lot of support from their corporate sponsers and they are looking forward to the event tomorrow.

"The money that we make tomorrow will come right back to the shelter to help us continue our mission, and help us try to be able to try to serve the community and keep our prices low, affordable for folks," Murray said. "We hope that one day there’s not any homeless animals out there."

While no animals will be brought to the park tomorrow the shelter is still open from ten to five. Murray says that the summer weather is just too warm to have the animals outside for that long, but that there will be plenty to do at the Summer Jam.

"Tomorrow is just going to be a fun day," Murray said. "We like to have events like this to let people know the shelter is here and what we do and what our mission is. Tomorrow is just going to be a fun time."

If you haven’t registered for the cornhole tournament it isn’t too late. You can show up Saturday at 10:00 with your $20 entry fee and get right into the tournament. There is a ten dol$10 cover charge to enter the event.
