The Animal Shelter Society is preparing for two events this coming month.

The first annual Paws and Claws Summer Jam will be held Saturday, August 30th at Zane Landing Park. The event will feature the local band, Double Cut, pizza, drinks and a cornhole tournament with payouts to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. There are only 20 slots available for the tournament, but if some some reason it fills up you will not be turned away. Executive Director of The Animal Shelter, Jody Murray says they hope to see 200 to 300 people.

"If we have good weather, we’d like to see 200 or 300 people. Other events that have been down at Zane landing have been successful for our other events so we’re planning on about 200 or 300 people there to show up."

All proceeds go toward the work of The Animal Shelter. The tournament starts at 10AM and runs till 5PM. The shelter will also be hosting an adoption event at the Zanesville Petsmart. It will run August 16th and 17th from noon till 3PM. Murray says you’ll have a variety of furry friends to choose from.

"We’ll have some kittens, cats, puppies, dogs there, and you can do the whole adoption process there. There will be cats and dogs that are ready to go."

All of the pets you adopt at the event will be spayed, neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Both events benefit The Animal Shelter. You are invited to come out and take part in the fun.
