The 11th annual Y-City Mile took place in Downtown Zanesville Saturday.
Team Godspeed, an athletes ministry organization hosted the event. The race was a mile long, and featured events for runners, walkers and dashes for mascots and kids. Vice President of team Godspeed, Patrick Pugh says 425 runners all laced up their shoes for the same great cause.
"We changed it up a few years ago and made it a community and high school team challenge, which brings out a lot of numbers. We pay a lot of money back to the organization or team who participates, so it brings a lot of people out."
Runner Caleb Saunders took part in the mile run and mascot dash and represented the Philo Varsity Boys Soccer Team. He says his experience was an enjoyable one.
"I just enjoy running. I’m a track athlete and soccer player. Running is just very enjoyable to me and it’s for a good cause."
Saunders encourages people to attend next years race. If you missed this years Y-City Mile, you can find more information about upcoming events at the following website: www.teamgodspeed.org
