Zanesville Students to Begin Classes on Thursday

Students at Zanesville City Schools are still enjoying their summer break Tuesday, but come Thursday, they’ll be headed back to the classroom.

Administrators with the school district want to make sure you have all the information you need to make that first day of school run as smoothly as possible.

"If there are any questions about bus routes, you can of course go to our website and we have those listed as well as the number for transportation," said Director of Title 1 and Special Services Steve Foreman.  "I highly encourage people to contact our central office, our transportation department, as soon as possible so that you’re ready for the first day.  I know that morning can be crazy for everyone, and it’s crazy here as well, so proper planning will save you a lot of frustration."

If school supplies still need to be purchased, Foreman said that lists for each school in the district are posted at major stores in the area as well as on the school’s website.  While supplies and knowing your bus stop are important, Foreman said the most important thing to remember for Thursday is safety.

"The only thing that I can really ask is that we, on Thursday, when people leave the house to go to work, they’re thinking that today’s the first day of school for Zanesville City School students.  Be patient.  And employers, if people get there two minutes late on that first day, they did it for the safety of our kids, so that’s a good thing."

Again, if any questions remain, you are encouraged to visit the school’s website at
