The Muskingum Valley Red Cross is preparing for its 9th annual Hometown Heroes Breakfast.
It will be held on November 7th at North Terrace Church of Christ. The breakfast gives the community a chance to recognize those who have made a difference. Executive Director of the Muskingum Valley Red Cross, Marlene Henderson says there are several categories of heroes that will be acknowledged.
"We have several categories, we have everything from the teacher that made a difference in your life–an education hero, to faith and action…of course we have our military heroes and those are always just wonderful. Public service, we also have community heroes. We also have a hero to pets."
The Red Cross is currently seeking nominations for those heroes. Henderson says the event is a great way to simply say ‘thank you.’
"It’s just such a great way to tell people thank you. You know, all of the heroes say the same thing, ‘I didn’t do anything.’ and anybody else. But when you look back at the ones we have had over the past nine years, they have made an incredible difference in the lives of the community."
Tickets for the breakfast will be $15 and will be on sale in mid October. If you would like to lean more or nominate someone who has made a difference, you can call the American Red Cross at: (740)844-2017
