Remembering 9/11

The Zanesville Community joined the rest of the Country in remembering the 13th Anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

Area first responders were honored during a luncheon Thuesday at Park Central on Adams Lane. It was hosted by AmeriCorps and the Muskingum County Community Foundation. Burgers, hot dogs, wings and other food was served to our local heroes in appreciation for their work. Ashley Larimer says events like this help us to remember our local service men and women.

"I think that it helps us remember 9/11 just because we’re not kind of mourning over it, we are celebrating the event that happened and we’re remembering that we have people around us that do things like this every day, you know it may not be as big as that event but we do have them serving in many ways."

Meanwhile a prayer service was held outside the Muskingum County Courthouse at noon. Muskingum County Coordinator for Cry Out America, Amy Moore says they all gathered together for the same purpose.

"The folks who have gathered here are just to be here at the seat of power here at the Courthouse and we’re just going to continue to pray for this nation."

Moore says prayer events like the one that was held today bring the community together.
