Building A Hunger Movement in Muskingum County

Come out and join the next conversation for building a hunger movement in Muskingum County.

The next conversation will take place on October 15 from 7:30 until 9:30 in the morning at the Muskingum County business incubator. In the most recent meetings the united way and many other voices were able to map out the great work that is already happening and also recognize some of the gaps in the services to hungry neighbors. United Way’s Community Impact Coordinator, Amy Davis says more can be done.

"What other things can be done on top of what we’re already doing, because we’re doing a good job, but there’s also more that can be done."

In the last couple of months the United Ways 2-1-1 call center has averaged about 40% of their calls to be a need for food. Davis explains

"So we know that there is a need for food and you know those individuals are calling in to get signed up for a food pantry or to say "I’m signed up for a pantry but I still don’t have enough food, what are the hot meal programs?" Or are changing information, but that’s quite a bit of calls saying I have a need for food, I need some kind of assistance for food."

The United Way invites anyone who has an interest in learning more about hunger or how to solve the problem to any of their next meetings.
