Dutro Ford in downtown Zanesville is embarking on around a $10 million project to revitalize its storefront.
Dutro Ford spent upwards of $2 million to purchase properties around its current lot, and within the next two weeks buildings between 5th and 6th Streets near Dutro will be demolished.
Bryan Graham, the owner of Dutro Ford said they’re looking at around two years for all of the construction to be complete. He added that they looked for property on Maple Ave. but wanted to continue to be apart of downtown Zanesville.
"We really want to be a part of the revitalization of downtown Zanesville," said Graham. "The building is absolutely built for growth."
When the project is complete Dutro Ford will sit on a six acre property downtown. Both of the current buildings will be torn down but not until after the new service center is finished. This will allow for them to stay open throughout construction. Graham said good business is allowing them to expand.
"The car business has been great right now," said Graham. "We’ve been on a great run here the last several years, and we’ve got a great product, and it’s all about great people. If you’ve got great people that is half the battle. We believe in our people, and we believe in our product, and we believe in downtown Zanesville."
Graham believes that when the expansion is finished, what he calls, their state of the art facilities will help attract workers to the business. Dutro Ford plans to add a couple dozen jobs when the project is complete, but Graham could not say for certain the exact number.
