Golden Corral held its annual Military Appreciation Day Monday, November 17th.

From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. veterans are invited to attend the 14th annual appreciation dinner where veterans and active duty military will receive a free dinner buffet and beverage.

Dr. David Schroder, Commander of the D.A.V. Zanesville, told us about a ceremony held prior to the meal, "it’s quite a ceremony, we have a little flag presentation, and a few speakers, and veterans get a free meal, and Golden Corral loses a lot of money every time they do this, but as members of the D.A.V. we are aloud to ask for donations, from the people that eat here. "

Locally over 500 active military and veterans are expected to enjoy a free meal today. Nationally Golden Corral restaurants have provided over 4 million free meals, and contributed over 8.7 million dollars to the Disabled American Veterans organization known as the D.A.V.

"Everybody that joins our organization is a disabled veteran, so we’re all a chapter of brothers and sister," said Lester Abele, Jr. Vice Commander of the D.A.V. Zanesville.
