Steubenville and Athens both won regional titles on Friday night, but the similarities end there.
The Big Red captured the regional crown for the 15th time by narrowly defeating Beechcroft, 29-21. Steubenville led by 22 at the half and hung on to advance to the state final four.
Athens, on the other hand, won the regional championship for the first time in school history and did so with ease. The Bulldogs routed St. Francis DeSales, 52-20, behind a magnificent performance from Joe Burrow. The Ohio State recruit tossed for 319 yards and five touchdowns in the air and ran for 135 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Burrow even caught a four-yard touchdown pass from himself when his pass attempt was deflected at the line of scrimmage.
Athens takes on Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary next Friday while Steubenville is set to take on Cleveland Benadictine.
