Walmart is teaming up with The Salvation Army to make sure local children have a Merry Christmas.
Stop by any Walmart location to donate a toy for the "Fill The Truck" event. The nation-wide event brings all toy donations to The Salvation Army in your community. Ministry Assistant of the Zanesville Salvation Army, Dustin Redmond, says these toys will go to children on their angel tree who don’t get picked.
"Any angel that isn’t picked off of a tree, we have a toy room and any toys that are collected through Walmart will go into this room and families who’s kids weren’t picked off the tree can go into this room and they can shop for the toys for their children."
Zanesville Walmart manager, Steve Jones, encourages shoppers to come out and help with donations. He says last year they had a great turn out and hopes to do just as well this year.
"It really makes us feel great because it’s always a, Christmas is always a time to give back, and there’s a lot of children in the community that need our support. And, every toy that we can collect will go directly to them and it’ll be something under their Christmas tree and bring joy to them. So, when they’re happy, we’re happy."
To donate, drop off your toy in the truck box at the entrance of your local Walmart. The event runs until Sunday, December 14th.
