The Salvation Army is hard at work during the holiday season.
Today, it held its food distribution day and around 200 families benefited. Ministry assistant Dustin Redmond, says they have a great team of volunteers, but are looking for extra help on their busiest day of the year.
"Today we have about 30 volunteers here helping in the building, some are helping with the food distribution and some are helping in other parts of the building. Tomorrow we actually pack our boxes for Thursday, so tomorrow night at 5 pm we are looking for volunteers to come and help pack the 1,100 boxes to distribute on Thursday."
Thursday is The Salvation Army’s Christmas distribution day, Redmond says they’ve been preparing for this day since early October.
"Thursday is our big Christmas distribution, we’re gonna be handing out about 1,200 food boxes, and then we also have the angel tree that goes on that day as well. So, anybody who signed up for that angel tree, their kids and family will come in and pick up their Christmas gifts here as well."
